Short Bio
I did a self directed interdisciplinary degree with focus areas in materials engineering, architectural design, and sociology. Before college I was homeschooled and spent a significant amount of time in the mountains around Montana. I am interested in finding inspiration in nature to solve significant issues in the world that humans have built.
I have worked for biomimicry companies in the US and Singapore, innovating ways to eliminate the need for electricity/fuel use in cooling and heating buildings using inspiration from various plants and animals.
I also work coaching epee fencing.

Hobbies and Interests
I am a competitive epee fencer. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outside walking, hiking, canoeing, camping, running, and nordic skiing. I have also found a love for writing. I am taking some of my gap year between undergraduate and graduate school to work on a science fiction creative writing project. It uses the context and topography of an alien world to explore the emotional/cultural trauma people experience when facing an existential climatological threat they did not personally cause. I hope to write a short story or book about slow violence, survival, and forgiveness.
