Short Bio
Cara Thuringer is the Climate Justice Resource Hub Manager at the Chisholm Legacy Project. Her work is motivated by the Just Transition Framework and a strong belief in community self-determinism. At the Chisholm Legacy Project, she supports communities by connecting activists to scientific, technical, legal, financial, and emotional resources. She enjoys working directly with activists to identify their needs and serving as a conduit to resources that center agency over oppression. Cara also enjoys co-creating knowledge with frontline communities when new needs arise.
Cara was born and raised in South Dakota, and completed her undergraduate studies at Montana State University, where she studied environmental science and photography. Cara also holds a M.S. in Environment and Sustainability from the University of Michigan, where she specialized in geospatial data science and environmental justice. She has enjoyed a varied career in environmental activism, environmental security, and conservation. In addition to climate justice, she is interested in housing justice and natural resource issues in the western United States. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and skiing. Cara counts herself lucky to call Colorado’s Front Range home.
